Australia Day Celebrations
Saturday, 26 January 2013 – 7.00am – 12.00noon
Mandurah’s Eastern Foreshore
A time to celebrate and appreciate all things Australian. The celebrations begin with the Lions Club Great Aussie Breakfast at 7.00am followed by the Citizenship Ceremony and Awards.
The traditional Australia Day flotilla will get underway at 10am from Comet Bay, travelling through the estuary and Port Mandurah canals into Mandjar Bay.
In addition, the popular Mandjar Markets will be open on the foreshore near the Rotunda from 9.00am.
Please note this is a free community event on the morning of Australia Day only. There is no afternoon component and no fireworks.
Premier’s Australia Day Citizenship Awards
The Premier’s Australia Day Citizenship Awards focus on community contribution, and participation rather than personal achievements.
Awards cover three categories:
- a local citizen under 25 years
- a local citizen 25 years and over
- a local group or community event
The recipients of the awards will be selected from people and groups who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year, or given an outstanding service to the local community over a number of years through active involvement.
The awards will be formally announced on Saturday, 26 January 2013 as part of City’s Australia Day Celebrations, held on the Eastern Foreshore.
