Ac-cent Mandurah
An activity centre for people aged 55 and over
Ac-cent Mandurah is Mandurah's meeting place for seniors offering social, physical and intellectual programs that encourage, motivate and educate members.
The centre provides a wide range of facilities and activities for people aged 55 and over and does so by placing an accent on three key areas:
- Independence and good health - actively reinforcing positive attitudes towards ageing, educating and enabling seniors to age actively.
- Participation in Mandurah's community - a commitment to driving a community orientated centre, supporting agencies, care providers, retirement villages and seniors' groups.
-
Lifelong Learning - supporting the continuous building of skills and knowledge throughout a whole lifespan by encouraging our learning and interest groups.

CONNECTING SENIORS - SENIORS WEEK CELEBRATION

The Connecting Seniors event, which drew around 700 people, was opened by Councillor Williams and Junior Mayor Matthew Fox, while Mandurah MLA David Templeman was MC. 22 community groups and service organisations held exhibits at the event, while entertainment included a fashion show, displays from Beat the Feet and the Boomers, and musical performances.
The event was designed to enable Mandurah community groups and seniors groups to exhibit and share information with the general community.
The community knitting project was a strong focus of the event, with many people contributing over a period of six weeks. Nine rugs for the elderly have already been completed, with a further 10 under construction. The rugs will be donated to Coolibah Total Caring.
Pictured above: City of Mandurah Councillor Rhys Williams takes a crash course in knitting from Ac-cent Mandurah member, Patricia (Patsy) Bonser during the City’s Connecting Seniors event at Ac-cent Mandurah on 11 November.
