Mandurah Environmental Advisory Group

The Mandurah Environmental Advisory Group (MEAG) is a group formed and supported by the City of Mandurah to enable the community, via the MEAG members, to have input into the development of Mandurah and advise on issues to help protect Mandurah's natural environment.  

Purpose

The purpose of the Advisory Group is to advise on general environmental issues, consistent with the City of Mandurah document, 'Our Strategic Plan 2009 - 2012'.

 

 

Objective

The Advisory Group objective is to represent the diverse views of the community on conservation and environmental matters in a democratic manner.

 

 

Membership

The current membership of the Mandurah Environmental Advisory Group is:

  1. One Elected Member
  2. Eight community members representing the following portfolios, which will constitute the core reporting requirements of the Advisory Group:
  • Subdivision and Approvals.
  • Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation.
  • Flora and Fauna.
  • Wetlands and Groundwater.
  • Management Plans.
  • Legislation and Policies.
A prerequisite to being appointed as a community member will be the applicant's commitment to preserving the natural environment.

Supporting Officers (no voting rights)
  • Council Officer from Natural & Built Environment (Manager Natural & Built Environment)
  • Council Officer from Planning & Land Services (Manager Planning & Land Services)
  • Council Officer from Natural & Built Environment (Secretarial Support)
  • Council Officer from EcoServices (Co-ordinator)
  • Counvil Officer from EcoServices (Environmental Planning Officer)
Representatives from the relevant government departments and Council officers provide specialist advice as and when required.
 

 

Vacancies

There are currently no positions vacant on the Mandurah Environmental Advisory Group. Positions are held for a two (2) year period in line with the General Council Elections. If you would like to join please register your interest here  and you will be advised when the next round of nominations are due, or if a vacancy arises.
