Green Waste Vouchers
The City provides four free green waste vouchers to residents each year. The vouchers are attached to the annual Rates Notice which is sent out to ratepayers each year in August.
The green waste voucher enables the ratepayer or resident to dispose of clean, uncontaminated green waste from their premises, free of charge, on four occassions at the City's Waste Management Centre for cars, utilities or trailers. The vouchers cannot be used by commercial operators (landscapers, gardeners, lawn mowing contractors) or be used for the disposal of green waste in trucks.
The vouchers expire on 31 August each year and must be presented to the gate attendant at the Waste Management Centre in order to receive free entry. There are no exceptions to this requirement.
Clean green waste is defined as green waste that can be mulched and converted to compost. It does not include dug out lawn or weeds. Please note that contaminated green waste will be classified as general waste and will incur the standard gate charges.
There is the ability for ratepayers to receive additional green waste vouchers should their original vouchers be destroyed or stolen. A statutory declaration must be completed and witnessed, and be submitted to Council's Administration Centre for processing.
