Health & Wellbeing

Why should you be active?

Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining good health, reducing your risk of many lifestyle diseases and helping to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. There are many physical, mental, social and environmental benefits of physical activity, which include; a reduced risk of heart disease and type II diabetes; a reduction in stress, anxiety and depression; safer communities and improved family and community connectedness; and reduced greenhouse emissions. Click here to view the benefits of regular activity that have been outlined on the Physical Activity Taskforce website.

What does the City offer?

For a number of years The City of Mandurah has been focused on improving the health and wellbeing of its residents. With the appointment of a full time Physical Activity Officer in 2006, programs have been run for specific target groups and general community participation to increase physical activity. Real Adventure Women (R.A.W.) and Males in Action (M.I.A.) are two programs offered to specific target groups throughout the year, with activities including surfing, scuba diving, kayaking, clay target shooting, dance and golf previously offered.
