Volunteer and Advisory Groups
The City of Mandurah has ten Bushcare groups and six Coastcare groups. Both groups consist of volunteers from the community who are involved in a variety of activities for particular bush and coastal reserves. Their aim is to protect and restore Mandurah's natural environment.
The City of Mandurah Bushcare and Coastcare started from local community members seeing a need to create opportunities for residents to participate in regular environmental activities. The volunteers provide an important resource to the City of Mandurah and contribute in on-ground works. They spend significant amounts of their own time looking after the bushland and coastal reserves.
The Mandurah Environmental Advisory Group (MEAG) is a group formed and supported by the City to enable the community, via the MEAG members, to have input into the development of Mandurah and advise on issues to help protect Mandurah's natural environment. The purpose of the Advisory Group is to advise on general environmental issues, consistent with the intent of the City’s Strategic Plan. The objective is to represent the diverse views of the community on conservation and environmental matters in a democratic manner.
The Mandurah Coastcare Co-ordinating Advisory Group (MCCAG) is a group formed and supported by the City to enable the community, via the Coastcare coordinators, to advise on general coastal management issues to help protect our magnificent coastline. The purpose of the Mandurah Coastcare Co-ordinating Advisory Group is to advise on general coastal management issues, including the following:
- Technical aspects of our coast and marine facilities.
- Community aspirations and ideas.
- Community representation and
- Community planning consultation.
