Love the Beach? Protect it's Future...

What can you do to help:

  • Surf the Waves not the Dunes.
  • Follow the Signs and stick to the Pathways.
  • Take your litter home with you.

What is being done?

Our coast provides important recreation, visual and biodiversity values. A number of environmental issues such as erosion, conflicting usage, parking and access affect the use and protection of this valuable resource. The City of Mandurah recognises that these problems are increasing as our population grows.

The Mandurah Coastcare Co-ordinating Committee is a Committee formed by the City of Mandurah to enable the Community to advise on general coastal management issues to help protect our coast. This includes:

  • budget expenditure and priorities
  • technical aspects of our coast and marine facilities
  • community aspirations and ideas

There are six (6) Coastcare Groups in Mandurah and the dedicated members of these groups work with the City to help protect our coast. Hundreds of hours have been spent brushing and planting dunes, formalising access tracks, putting up fences and monitoring the coast. A lot of this work has been done with financial assistance from the State and Commonwealth Governments and matching funds from the City.

What can you do to help?

Protecting the natural vegetation and dune surfaces will reduce the risk of blow-outs from wind and destabilised dunes being blown inland or washed out to sea.
