Real Adventure Women's Program - (R.A.W.)

R.A.W is a program aimed at providing a supporting environment where women can try outdoor activities such as surfing, sailing, skateboarding and fishing.

R.A.W is under the banner of the Department of Sport and Recreation Active Women's program and is sponsored by Healthway to provide physical activity opportunities for women and girls living in regional WA.

Recreation Services will be conducting activities over a twelve month period. For more information on the program or to be included on a mailing list, please contact our Physical Activity Project Officer on 9550 3623.

"Clubs in Schools" Program

The Department of Sport and Recreation and Lotterywest have provided funds through a Special Initiatives Grant to run the program.

A Database of Sport Development Officers 2007 has been sent of all Primary Schools and sporting clubs in the Mandurah area.  The database contains listings of sports who can provide a trained officer to go into the school to conduct sessions within the schools Physical Education lessons.  Sports that are in the 2nd edition include:

In 2007 schools and clubs are being offered a subsidy to assist with any costs associated with getting specialised officers into schools.

It is hoped that by encouraging schools and clubs to invite development officers to coordinate sessions.  Children who get a taste of a specific sport in the schools will be encouraged to pursue the sport out of school hours in local clubs.  For more information contact the City's Recreation Officer on 9550 3621.
