Youth Development
Mandurah is one of the largest growing local government areas in Western Australia, with the 0-24 age groups totaling over 32% of the total population.
In response to Mandurah’s rapid growth, the City is committed to facilitating high levels of community participation and improving access to services and opportunities.
Children and youth development therefore focuses on keeping up to date with issues and opportunities by developing and maintaining strong partnerships and relationships with relevant community groups and service providers.
The role of the Youth Development Officer involves working in partnership with other agencies, across Council sections and levels of government to:
- Develop programs and provide opportunities to improve young people’s networks in their community, celebrate the diversity of young people and improve the perception of young people to the wider community
- Act as a link between young people and local government to facilitate the exchange of views and information
- Review youth policies to reflect the current issues facing youth groups and service providers in a fast growing Municipal
- Assess youth services and programs currently being provided in Mandurah and develop partnerships to limit duplication of resources.
