Retail Trading Hours
INFORMATION PERTAINING TO
SUNDAY RETAIL TRADING IN MANDURAH
Council officers have received numerous calls from retailers in regard to the retail trading hours for Mandurah following the final extended hours of trade, which ceased on 30 April 2004 (last Sunday in April).
For the information of retailers, Mandurah's current adopted practice in regard to Retail Trading Hours is as follows:
- General retail shops in the City of Mandurah currently have access to extended trading hours during the summer holiday period from the 1st Sunday in December to the last Sunday in April.
- Options available beyond standard hours during this and other prescribed school holidays and holiday long weekends are as follows:
- Saturdays 8am to 6pm
- Sundays 10am to 5pm
- Public Holidays 10am to 5pm (other than Christmas Day, Good Friday and ANZAC Day)
The current position on seven-day trading was reviewed by Council in August 2005 (as per a resolution by Council in June 2002). However, Council subsequently resolved that current arrangements in relation to retail trading hours be continued for a further five years i.e. extended trading hours for the period 1 December - 30 April each year, in addition to school holiday periods and long weekends.
Small business owners can seek information and clarification from the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection as to their options to trade seven days a week. The Department is located at Forest Centre 219 St Georges Terrace, Perth, and can be contacted on (08) 9282 0777.
