BRIGHT FUTURE FOR SUSTAINABLE MANDURAH HOME
The City of Mandurah, Mirvac, Ultimate Homes, Solar Dwellings and Sustainable Consulting have strengthened their partnership by holding a supplier referral workshop recently to explore options in setting up a broker service that connects residents directly with suppliers.
The Mandurah Sustainable Home features a host of environmental friendly products, and the idea behind the supplier referral service is to ensure residents can easily source products for their own homes.
Mandurah Chief Executive Officer Mark Newman said the Mandurah Sustainable Home continued to provide an important service to the City’s residents and visitors because it highlighted the importance of energy and water efficient features in the home.
“It is vital that we make environmentally friendly changes in our daily lives now for a better tomorrow. That’s why the service that the home provides has been expanded and enhanced to further benefit our community,” Mr Newman said.
“The main objective of establishing the Mandurah Sustainable Home in 2005 was to highlight the affordability of building and renovating homes that have minimal impact on the environment. That goal remains the same, but we have expanded our scope. The City is looking forward to the year ahead.”
Regular information sessions are also being held at the home throughout 2008. These will cover a range of environmental topics in a bid to consolidate the home’s educational service to the community.
The Mandurah Sustainable Home is located at 18 Grandmere Parade, Meadow Springs and is open on Wednesdays between 2.00pm and 4.00pm and Saturdays and Sundays between 1.00pm and 5.00pm. For further information, visit the website at www.sustainablemandurah.com.au.
