CIRCUS THEME FOR THIS YEAR’S LITTLE NIPPERS FESTIVAL

29-08-2008
Mandurah’s Eastern Foreshore will be transformed into a giant circus playground this year for the City of Mandurah’s sixth annual Little Nippers Maawit Kara Children’s Festival.

The totally free family festival on Sunday October 19 from 10am to 4pm will feature circus workshops, art and craft, live music and performances from Bizircus, Chicks with Tricks, Captain Quirk and many more great street performers and artists.

Rather than spread the entertainment over two days, this year’s festival concentrates all the performances on the Sunday making it easier to catch all the action, particularly for Mandurah visitors.

Kids can get gooey with Scitech, clown around with animals, enjoy face-painting, rides and amusements, sports, circus-pony rides, bubble fun, climbing wall, kite making, bike races, educational displays and multicultural activities.

Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey said a highlight of this year’s festival would undoubtedly be the performance by Bizircus at 12.30pm.

“Bizircus have been performing for more than 11 years and are incredibly popular,” Mayor Creevey said.

“They combine character comedy and breathtaking acrobatic stunts, and I’d urge anyone coming to Mandurah by train to make sure they get here in time to catch the show.”

Other feature acts include Mr Jim’s Magic Show for 4 to 8-year-olds, Fairy Clare flying in for Sensational String Stories, Jankadelics rhythm and beats from some of Perth’s beat young funk musicians, and local talents Pulse and the Peel Community Concert Band, competitions and prizes plus heaps more.

There will not be any fireworks at this year’s Little Nippers Festival, with funding being diverted into attracting more entertainment for this smoke free event.
