HEALTHY LIFESTYLE TRAILER LAUNCHED AND IN DEMAND
Last Saturday, November 29, the trailer was present at the Surfing Together Day event, which is an inclusion day for people with disabilities who learnt to surf at Pyramids Beach. A number of novice surfers and volunteers participated on the day with the trailer being a focal part of the activities on the day.
On November 19, the trailer was used at the Billy Dower Youth Centre Healthy Breakfast Kids Day at Rushton Park where about 150 Year 4 to Year 10 students from five local primary schools participated in round robin style physical activities, such as rugby, soccer, football, touch rugby, thumper, and other skills and games sessions.
In January, the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) has organised three Kids Extravaganza Days over the holidays providing children with three hours of physical activity and fun at local parks and San Remo beach. Activities will include cricket, volleyball, soccer, commando with prizes and giveaways.
Mandurah Chief Executive Officer Mark Newman said the Healthy Lifestyles Roadshow trailer was an idea conceived by Recreation marketing officer Georgina Webb and Recreation Centres program supervisor Veronica Brophy.
“The trailer will help deliver recreation programs and opportunities direct to community locations, which is a great way to promote what we do as well as provide physical activity,” Mr Newman said.
“Georgina worked on the design of the Healthy Lifestyles Roadshow trailer based on an old surf life saving club trailer and had it custom made as a fantastic mobile one-stop fun, games physical activity trailer suitable for all members of our community.”
Clubs and organisations interested in booking the trailer can contact Program Supervisor Veronica Brophy on 9550 3625.
