CRAB FEST A ‘FOODIES’ PARADISE

22-02-2008
Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey said the hardest task facing hungry visitors to the Channel Seven Crab Fest on March 8 and 9 will be deciding on which food venue to head for first on the eastern foreshore.

“With Mandurah’s famous freshly cooked Blue Manna crabs on sale at Crab Manor, five fantastic local restaurants located in the Lakelands Crab, Seafood and Wine Pavilion, and celebrity chef-come-entertainer Iain Lawless cooking up a storm in the Alcoa Pavilion, visitors are going to be spoilt for choice,” Mayor Creevey Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey.

“I hope everyone comes with a good appetite so they can enjoy what promises to be a fabulous array of taste tempters.”

Iain Lawless will deliver a blend of easy-to-make Thai and seafood-inspired demos spiced up with his own brand of sharp-as-a-tack wit. He’ll alternate on the Alcoa Pavilion stage with Channel Seven’s Home in WA star Martin Gillespie, otherwise known as Retro Chef, whose cooking antics are guaranteed to entertain the whole family.

Over at Crab Manor, the Mandurah Fishers Association and Nino’s Fish Bar have joined forces to ensure a sustainable supply of freshly cooked crabs are ready to dunk in one of the delicious sauces.

Association members will also be there to give advice on responsible crabbing, and the new size and bag limits, to make sure Mandurah crabs remain on the menu for a long time.

Restaurants to be co-located at the Lakelands Crab, Seafood and Wine Pavilion over the two-day festival are the Jolly Frog, Red Manna Waterfront Restaurant, Paparazzi, Healthy & Tasty Turkish cuisine and Mediterranean Salads and Tantuni.

“Collectively they’ll offer a perfect opportunity to sample some of the finest crab and seafood dishes on offer in the Mandurah region, all under one roof,” Mayor Creevey said.

All three food venues are located adjacent to the Smart Street Mall, close to the main stages featuring non-stop entertainment, and are open both days of the festival.
