JAPANESE DELEGATION VISITS MANDURAH

29-08-2008
Mandurah will play host to a Japanese delegation this Sunday [3 August], including the Speaker of the Minamiawaji City Assembly, Deputy Mayor of the City, President of the Minamiawaji Chamber of Commerce, and 33 junior high school students.

Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey said she was looking forward to joining Murray Cowper, the State Member for Murray, in welcoming the group and giving them a quick tour of the district.

“Our visitors, guests of the WA Government, are from an island in the Hyogo prefecture,” said Mayor Creevey.

“The Hyogo prefecture is a significant area of trade for WA which Murray visited recently.

“I understand the students are skilled in the ancient art of Japanese puppetry.”

Mayor Creevey said the emphasis for their visit was on informality.

“Our only firm plans include a cruise of the canals, and I’m crossing fingers our wild dolphins will put on a show.

“Then we might stop for fish and chips for lunch.

“I love the chance to show off our City to visitors, so it should be a very pleasant few hours.”
