JOINT VENTURE SUCCESS IN MEADOW SPRINGS
To mark the occasion, the City invited representatives from Southern Gateway Alliance and local cricket and rugby sporting clubs to a morning tea on site of the new regional sporting facility.
Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey thanked City staff who worked on the project and Southern Gateway Alliance in carrying out the agreed scope of works.
“The earthworks for the first stage of this project started in December last year and have resulted in significant cost savings to the City,” Mayor Creevey said.
“These works have involved bulk earthworks in removing about 300,000 cubic metres of excess soil from the site, enabling the City to achieve the desired design shape of the sporting facilities without compromising excess earthworks costs.
“Also of great benefit to the city has been the agreement for the return of about 65,000 cubic metres of sand to cover the hard surface on the site for the playing fields.”
Mayor Creevey commended the high standard of workmanship and safety of all City staff and contractors employed by the Southern Gateway Alliance saying there was a great sense of partnership between City officers and the Alliance in dealing with public issues, such as dust management and traffic safety.
“The project has been a win-win solution for the City and Southern Gateway Alliance and will enable the construction of what will be an excellent facility for the Mandurah community.”
