CREATIVE WORKSHOPS BREAK DOWN BARRIERS

01-07-2008
Mandurah’s diverse community is acknowledged in a new City of Mandurah project, in conjunction with the Peel Filipino Multi Cultural Association, called “Breaking down barriers through Creative Expression”.

Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey said the project was aimed at women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who were based in the Mandurah community.

“It’s a 10-week creative and hands-on program during which participants will learn skills in jewellery making, digital photography and scrapbooking,” Mayor Creevey said.

“The workshops are offered to 12 women who might not participate in general programs offered in the Mandurah area or have recently arrived in Mandurah.”

The workshops will be held in the Falcon eLibrary and Community Centre every Saturday from 12.00pm to 3.30pm from July 26 through to September 27.  Bookings can be made through the eLibrary by phoning 9550 3230.

‘Breaking Down barriers through Creative Expressions’ is funded by the City of Mandurah and the Department of Education and Training through Adult Community Education Grants (ACE).
