CRAB FEST READY TO BLAST OFF FOR 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

29-04-2008
It’s only two days to go until the 10th anniversary of the Channel 7 Crab Fest explodes once again on to Mandurah’s eastern and western foreshores with fantastic fireworks, sensational seafood, celebrity chefs, excellent entertainment, and ‘way out’ water sports over March 8 and 9.

Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey said the City wanted to make sure the 10th anniversary was really special going all out to provide the Mandurah community and thousands of visitors with a truly spectacular event.

“Our events team has been working for months to attract some great acts to the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, including celebrity chef Ed Halmagyi, ‘Fast Ed’ from Better Homes and Gardens, for the Cedar Woods Gourmet Food Concert on March 7 and those masters of music, mime and madness, comedic group ‘Carpe Idiotus’, for the Saturday night concert,” Mayor Creevey said.

“These are the only ticketed acts during the two-day festival, but all other entertainment is free on the foreshore, including the awesome Frasers Landing Fireworks Spectacular on March 8 from 9pm.  This will really define Crab Fest’s 10th anniversary celebration.”

Events for this year include the:

  • popular Alcoa Cooking Pavilion featuring celebrity chefs at the ready to demonstrate the preparation of delicious and easy seafood meals
  • Lakelands Crab, Seafood and Wine Pavilion which will offer a variety of food from local restaurant, featuring seafood and crab dishes
  • Crab Manor marquee offering fresh crabs for sale from local fishermen
  • Eventscorp Rotunda, the Smart St Mall Stage, the Landcorp/GWN Mandjar Square Stage, the Lotterywest Children’s Stage and the Coast FM Bar Stage (near the Crab, Seafood and Wine Pavilion).
  • the Mandurah Scooters/V Moto Fashion Parade on Mandjar Square Stage on March 8
  • plus lots of loud and lively roving entertainment and extreme sport demonstrations.

By popular demand the Mandurah Estate Agency Water Carnival is back on Mandjar Bay with V8 speed boats, wakeboarders, paddlers and dragon boat racing so everyone can enjoy the action from either the eastern or western foreshore.

Mayor Creevey said the City was also able to offset greenhouse gas emissions created by the event with Mirvac funding a substantial donation to have 6000 trees planted through Carbon Neutral and Men of the Trees.
