WINNERS ALL ROUND IN COLOURING-IN COMPETITION

27-11-2008
Three Dudley Park Primary School students and two students from Glencoe and Riverside Gardens Primary Schools have been announced the winners of the City of Mandurah’s recent Community Safety colouring-in competition.

Run in the lead-up to the Little Nippers Children’s Festival in October, all entries in the competition were displayed at the festival in the “aMAZEing Mandurah” tent, which hosted other activities including an interactive game to identify the right and wrong ways to use public transport.

Presented with their prizes of $40 vouchers to Mandurah Toy World were Dudley Park Primary students Sheree Thorne (Year 7), Shelby Chapman (Year 4) and Mukhtar Mukhtar (Year 3), Glencoe Primary School pre-primary student Bradley Tate and Riverside Gardens Primary School kindy student Sebastion Plumridge.

Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey congratulated the winning students for their quality work and praised the other entrants who entered the colouring-in competition.

“I also congratulate the primary school teachers who encouraged their students to submit work for the competition because it enabled all of these students to participate in an activity that helped raise awareness of road safety and encouraged the use of public transport,” Mayor Creevey said.

“The aMAZEing Mandurah tent at Little Nippers was also a great venue to promoted the reporting of graffiti and ways in which residents could secure their homes and cars.”

The colouring-in competition was organised by the City’s My Train-Mandurah project, which encourages the safe use of public transport, particularly the new train line, and raise safety awareness in the community.  More than 250 participants received small incentives on the day for participating in the activities.
