SCHWHEELIES FUN AT LITTLE NIPPERS

The City of Mandurah’s TravelSmart program is sponsoring four ‘Schwheelies’ bike education and skills sessions at the Little Nippers Maawit Kara Children’s Festival on October 19 to promote bike skills, safety and the joy of riding bikes.

Developed by Symmetry Cycle Coaching as part of the Schwheelies Bicycle Education program to teach, develop, and enhance children’s bicycle skills and safety.

With increased dangers on roads, bicycle education is vital to children’s safety, so the SchWheelies program focuses on bicycle safety and road awareness, and is delivered in a fun and interactive format for all children

The SchWheelies bike sessions will be run at 10.00am, 11.30am, 1.00pm, and 2.30pm and will include cycling skills games and activities, fun active involvement and imaginative group activities on bikes, cicycle and helmet checks, plus ‘Ride the Pirate's Planks!’ and ‘Tip the Balance on a Bike’ activities.

Children wanting to participate will need a bike, helmet (compulsory, displaying Australian Standards Mark TM AS 2063.2 or AS/NZS 2063) and enclosed shoes.

As part of other community safety initiatives being promoted in walk through the aMAZEing Mandurah MAZE and collect stamps and goodies related to community safety and TravelSmart messages, such as:

  • Catching the Bus can be Fun
  • Stay Safe with Constable Care
  • Get your photo with Constable Care
  • Bus and Train Challenge
  • Fun games and activities
