SENIORS EXPO TO SHOWCASE WHAT’S ON OFFER IN THE REGION
Featuring the Mucky Duck Bush Band, the Bush Dance is being held in the Senior Citizens Centre Main Hall from 4.30 to 7.00pm and includes a light supper, all for $15 a ticket and available from the centre.
Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey will officially launch the festivities in more conventional style at 10.00am on Friday, October 31, at the Senior Citizens Centre located at 41 Ormsby Terrace, followed by a special ‘Welcome to Country’ ceremony by the local Winjan Aboriginal Corporation.
Then ABC TV and radio presenter Verity James will take over as the Expo’s roving MC to encourage everyone to check out more than 30 different stalls and exhibitions, try a range of activities and be entertained by some great performers.
Mayor Creevey said that over the Friday and Saturday, October 31 and November 1, the event would showcase a huge range of health, recreation and lifestyle choices available for over-55s in Mandurah and the Peel Region.
“It’s a wonderful chance for people to get an up-to-date snapshot of what’s available, because the annual Seniors Expo brings it all together under one roof,” Mayor Creevey said.
There will be an array of displays, entertainment, information and workshops, including dance groups, singing sensations, group exercises and much more, while in the Council gardens, community markets will offer arts, crafts and home-made wares. The popular antique appraisals will also be conducted from 1pm to 3pm on November 1.
