CHANCE TO NOMINATE MANDURAH’S OUTSTANDING CITIZENS
Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey said Mandurah was no exception.
“We have our own local role models who typify the Aussie spirit, and we have a once-a-year opportunity in the Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards to acknowledge and celebrate their contribution publicly,” Mayor Creevey said.
“I urge people to consider nominating an individual or group for an Award.
“Anyone can submit a nomination. It’s a simple process, and it is a really great way to say ‘thank you’ for a valued contribution to the community, often one made with no expectation of thanks.”
Nominations can be made for the three categories of the awards - Active Citizenship, Active Citizenship for a person under 25 years, and Active Citizenship for a community group or event.
Nomination forms are available from the City of Mandurah’s Administration Centre and local libraries, or downloaded from the Australia Day Council of WA’s website www.ausdaywa.com.au.
The closing date for nominations is Friday, November 28, and all forms should be lodged with the City of Mandurah by 4.30pm.
The award winners will be formally presented on January 26 in 2009 at the City of Mandurah’s Australia Day celebrations, which are held on the eastern foreshore.
