Work Experience

To help people explore various career options, we offer a range of work experience opportunities.

For many people, this is the first step in obtaining ongoing work and is the beginning of their career with the City of Mandurah.

We can accommodate placements for:

• Workplace Learning (Year 11 and Year 12 students)
• Professional Practicum Programs (University and TAFE students)
• Work Experience Programs (Year 10 students, TAFE students, and other people within the community)

Our aim is to provide you with a safe and positive learning environment and exposure to the real world of work. This will allow you to:

• Clarify your career goals and expectations
• Find out what’s really involved in a job ‘from the inside’
• Improve your marketability
• Break the 'can’t get a job without experience and can’t get experience without a job' cycle
• Put your learned skills into practice
• Build confidence in your skills and abilities

You can gain work experience in administration, finance, human resources, sport and recreation, engineering, surveying, mechanics, community services, information technology, horticulture, and road maintenance – just to name a few.
