Setting Up - a variety of activities which could consist of helping to setup tables, chairs, umbrellas, distribute stock, set up signage, collect and distribute ice, making deliveries and transporting items (vehicles and trolleys are also provided), assist market stall holders, sponsors and food vendors. On Saturday evening many of the items will be pulled down, stored or secured and then setup again the following day before being dismantled Sunday evening. Many of these tasks will require lifting and bending and can be physically more demanding than other tasks.
Selling Drinks - Once again we will sell ice-cold drinks. This task involves some cash handling, bending and some lifting to sell the cans and bottles. Throughout the day the vans may also need restocking and queues can become significant. You will need to be comfortable working under pressure and be proficient in handling cash.
Gourmet Food Concert – Being held 7th March 2008 at Mandurah Performing Arts. We will need assistance to set up the event, general duties and ushering and welcoming guests.
Information Booths - There are two booths where volunteers provide information to assist the public to access the various event happenings during the festival. This operates like a general help desk. A full briefing will occur prior to the festival.
Festival Street Parade/Competition Entry Booth - Volunteers are required to man the Entry Booth for the Festival Street Parade competition from 5.30pm to 9.00pm on Saturday and 10.00am to 5.00pm on Sunday. Your role is to encourage participation in the competition and assist people to complete the competition form.
Festival Street Parade - Assistance will be required in coordinating the parade and acting as marshals along the route, commencing at 5.30pm (to be confirmed) from Hall Park.
Vehicle Management and Drivers - This includes manning the City of Mandurah Administration Office parking area identified for performers and personalities, transferring them and any equipment to appropriate locations. There will also be the manning of road closures during setup times. (Note: Drivers MUST have a current “A” class driver’s license which must be presented prior to the festival).
Mandjar Square – Volunteers may be required to manage and assist the organisers in this area with general assistance.
Food and Wine Pavilion – Duties will include assisting with the removal of refuse, ensuring the area remains tidy and safe, troubleshooting, reporting concerns, maintaining the flow of queues. We will also seek an area coordinator to be based at this location for the duration of the weekend to oversee activities and ensure the smooth operations and good communications.
Cooking Pavilion – general assistance and trouble shooting to assist the chefs. We will also seek an area coordinator to be based at this location for the duration of the weekend to oversee activities and ensure the smooth operations and good communications.
Crab Manna – Assisting with the sale of fresh crab meat to the general public..
Stage Management – This will be based only at the main stage rotunda to address issues and ensure acts go on and off. You will be required to liaise with audio officers and also act as a contact point for the kids activity area adjacent.
General Helpers/Runners – Many people will be required throughout the festival to assist organisers with general troubleshooting. This could be to help stock the coke van, make deliveries (cars and trolleys available), assist other locations etc for ‘as required’ troubleshooting tasks.
