City of Mandurah 'Our Strategic Plan 2009 - 2012'
One of the goals in the City of Mandurah’s 'Our Strategic Plan 2009–2012' is to be a Sustainable City - a City whose development and infrastructure enhance our environment and quality of life while promoting sustainable living choices.
The City of Mandurah will implement a number of strategies so that we can achieve this goal. These are to:

- Protect Mandurah’s biodiversity and bushland.
- Promote sustainable and water-sensitive building and urban design and construction practices
- Protect and enhance the Peel Waterways and coastal environment
- Enhance Mandurah’s air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Ensure waste is reduced and managed in a sustainable manner
- Encourage reduced water consumption by the community and ensure the City's water consumption is managed in a sustainable manner
- Demonstrate leadership in promoting and educating the community on climate change impacts and initiatives
- Prepare strategies for the City to adapt to the impacts of climate change
- Promote and protect the environmental and personal health and well being of the community
