Youth Development

The City of Mandurah Youth Development team provides a range of creative programs, activities and events for young people 11-25 years old living in Mandurah. The activities and programs are a combination of centre based activities run at the Billy Dower Youth Centre and out in the local community. The Youth Development team is also responsible for the general day to day operation of the Billy Dower Youth Centre.


Youth Development initiatives include:

• Leadership development, mentoring and personal development 
• Key stakeholder in the Peel Regional Youth Services network 
• Skate/BMX/Scooter events and workshops 
• Urban Art workshops 
• Junior Council 
• Youth participation in events


The Youth Development team is located at the Billy Dower Youth Centre, a one stop shop for a variety of youth services which include:

• Peel Youth Medical Services
• Youth Focus
• Department of Education (Participation Coordinators)
• School Volunteer Program
• Samaritan Crisis Line
• Sandy Bajkowski – Psychologist
• Providing support to other service providers such as Challenger Institute of TAFE, Fremantle Education Centre and John Tonkin College.


Youth Development programs and activities include:

• Young Men’s Program (supported by Alcoa Alumina)
• Young Women’s Program (supported by Alcoa Alumina)
• School holiday activities
• After school activities
• Spotlite theatre program
• Refill Urban Art program
• Boxing
• Madskillz (mentoring)
