STEAM Makers

About the Event

Be a STEAM Maker!

Saturdays in May will be a whole lot of STEAM fun with Dr Claire Pannell at Falcon eLibrary. Suitable for ages 5 – 8.

  • Saturday 8th May - Quacking cups
    • Explore how sounds are made and how they are amplified by using a range of real musical instruments. Make your own “big ears” to explore how it amplifies sounds and make a quacking cup take home.
  • Saturday 15th May - Fire flies
    • Learn about electronic circuits and make a paper circuit fire fly with an LED light to take home
  • Saturday 22nd May - Catapult challenge
    • Using Strawbee straws learn how to make a catapult to launch projectiles, and enter the catapult challenge. Strawbees have an amazing elastic property that you can use to throw things. You can take home your catapult and pom pom to use at home.
  • Saturday 29th May - Rocket Races
    • Find out how rockets work, make a blow rocket and adapt your design to race your rocket to Mars. Adapt the design of your rocket and take it home to continue exploring Space.
