About the Event

The workshops will be facilitated by Ben Sgherza who has a lifetime of experience and knowledge as a person with disability and a professional working in the disability and advocacy sectors.

Who should attend?

Community members, parents, people with disability, volunteers, sporting clubs, business owners. In short, anyone interested in building strong and vibrant communities where everyone can belong, matter, and contribute.

Topics the workshop will cover:

  • Accessible and inclusive communities are friendly and welcoming places for everyone to enjoy.
  • The meaning of disability in modern society
  • Disability rights and responsibilities
  • The lived experience of disability
  • Language and communication
  • Interaction and assistance

When?

25 May 6pm - 8 pm at Seashells Mandurah

There are two workshop dates covering the same content. You only need to attend one workshop so choose the date and time which suits you best,

Accessibility:

ACROD parking and an accessible toilet and shower facility available at the venue. Support workers are welcome to attend. If required, please contact fiona.allen@mandurah.wa.gov.au to request a social script for the event and/or discuss additional access needs and dietary requirements.
