Preparations are underway for the City of Mandurah’s signature annual event, the 19th Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest presented by LiveLighter, which will be held on March 18 and 19.

Since its inception in 1999, the festival has become Western Australia’s largest free regional event, attracting on average 120,000 people to Mandurah during the weekend.

Crab Fest has over 500 stakeholders from local business owners with the immediate vicinity of the event footprint; sponsors, City staff, entertainers, infrastructure and logistical suppliers, emergency services personnel, and volunteers.

The festival’s stall holders and ticketed food experiences also provide a platform for local businesses to gain additional exposure in the lead up to and during the event.

Local business owner and regular Crab Fest contributor, Jason Hutchen from Redmanna Waterfront Restaurant, will share his experiences and insights with this year’s local stallholders to help them prepare for Mandurah’s biggest weekend. Plus representatives from the City’s Health, Economic Development and Event’s team will also be there to answer any questions and support the session.

Mayor Marina Vergone explained that the Local Business Workshop is one of the ways that the City of Mandurah invests in building the local economy through the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest.

“It great to see local businesses working together to help get the most out of the festival,” she said.

“Not only does the City’s signature event provide a significant injection into the local economy but it’s a fantastic weekend for our community and visitors to Mandurah.”

Late last year, the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest presented by LiveLighter was awarded Gold in the Major Festivals and Events category at the 2016 Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards.
