With less than a week to go until Mandurah’s biggest weekend, the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest, presented by LiveLighter is set to be another show-stopper.
Locals and visitors will be drawn to the heart of Mandurah for the free, family friendly event on March 18 and 19.
Crab Fest has a long history of offering a unique experience for all ages and tastes, and this year’s event will be no different.
The event will showcase plenty of delicious seafood-inspired dishes and local produce over the weekend. A variety of gourmet and continental food stalls will display a huge choice of taste temptations including a selection of the region’s renowned produce.
The Harvey Norman Cooking Stage will include food tips and demonstrations across the weekend with personalities including Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun with their good friend Theo Kalogeracos from Theo & Co Pizzeria, celebrity chef Bart Beek, Chef Dale Sniffen, and the winner of the Children’s Cooking Competition.
The En Plein Air Art Competition will once again be held along the Eastern Foreshore and the Mandurah Ocean Marina, providing plenty of opportunities to watch some outstanding artists in action.
A wide variety of stalls will be offering a great range of local hand-crafted homewares, clothing and other interesting items to suit all tastes. There will be markets in the heart of the festival on the Eastern Foreshore as well as the Mandjar Markets in Mandjar Square and stalls in the Smart Street Mall and Mandurah Terrace.
There’s more than 100 hours of free, live entertainment across the entire weekend including Justice Crew, Thirsty Merc, the Australian Army Band, Mandurah’s own Jonny Taylor, Moorditj Brothers, African Music Circles, and a huge list of other local performers.
The Children’s Stage will come alive with family favourites including popular Constable Care and a great selection of local performers.
New to this year’s event is the Surf & Turf area, in the Dome car park, showcasing a range of offerings that will help you get the most out of Mandurah’s unique waterside lifestyle.
Fresh and cooked crab will be on sale across the weekend with take home boxes available too.
Spectacular fireworks will once again erupt over the water on Saturday at 8.30pm, thanks to Cleanaway.
The finishing touches are being made on other exciting attractions, including a huge range of food experiences including four ticketed food events, a children’s dress up competition, licensed bar areas, and water activities and activations including world-renowned flyboarder Ben Merrell.
A range of local businesses are also showing their support by offering some great special offers during the festival weekend.
Road and water closures will be in place during the festival weekend however the Old Mandurah Traffic Bridge will remain open.
Getting to and from the event is made easier thanks to the Free Shuttle Service leaving every 10 minutes from the Mandurah Train Station and from Ormsby Terrace cinema car park. The community is also encouraged to swap their car for the bike and park in the free, secure bicycle area.
