There is still time to nominate a community champion for the 2020 Citizen of the Year awards, which recognise individuals and groups for the positive contributions they make to the local community.
This year’s Community Citizen of the Year winner was Pam Bennett for her active participation in local charity events and volunteer work with the Mandurah Southern Districts Volunteer Bushfire Brigade and the Mandurah SES. Ms Bennett has been described as always giving back to her neighbours and community.
The Mandurah community is being encouraged to nominate a person or group who displays outstanding community service for the awards, with entries closing on Thursday, October 31.
The winners will be announced at Mandurah’s Australia Day ceremony next year on the Eastern Foreshore.
The Citizen of the Year Awards foster, recognise and celebrate significant contributions to community life and active citizenship in all local government areas of Western Australia.
The award categories are:
Community Citizen of the Year
Community Citizen of the Year - Youth
Community Citizen of the Year - Senior
Active Citizenship - Group or Event
The winners will be presented with a medallion and certificate in recognition of their community pride and spirit.
