City of Mandurah Sports Awards: Celebrate the people behind Mandurah’s sporting success

Every week across Mandurah, countless hours are dedicated to local sport, helping people of all ages get out on the field, court, track or in the water.

Before the athletes start their warm-ups, before the first whistle blows, volunteers are already unlocking clubrooms, setting up equipment, marking playing fields and preparing canteens. Coaches are giving up their evenings to train young athletes. Families are spending hours on the sidelines supporting their local club.

With nominations now open for the 12th annual City of Mandurah Sports Awards, the City is calling on the community to recognise the athletes, teams, clubs, volunteers and community programs helping local sport thrive.

The awards celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions to sport and recreation in Mandurah over the past 12 months, shining a spotlight on both sporting success and the people working behind the scenes.

Mayor Amber Kearns said the awards were an opportunity to celebrate the people who make sport such an important part of life in Mandurah.

“The talent on display is remarkable, but it’s the dedication, encouragement and teamwork behind the scenes that make local sport so strong,” she said.

“Every club has people who go above and beyond, often without expecting any recognition. This is an opportunity to thank them for everything they do.

“I encourage everyone to think about the people who have made a difference in their sporting club over the past year and take the time to nominate them.

“We have so many incredible stories across Mandurah, and I can't wait to see those achievements celebrated at this year's awards.”

The City is encouraging nominations from sporting clubs, schools, volunteers, athletes, coaches, committees and community organisations across the community that contribute to a strong local sporting culture, both on and off the field.

Nominations are open across 10 categories:

• Sports Person of the Year
• Masters Sports Person of the Year
• Junior Sports Person of the Year
• Sports Person of the Year with Disability
• Team of the Year
• Junior Team of the Year
• Club of the Year
• Volunteer of the Year
• Junior Volunteer of the Year
• Inclusion Program or Event

Nominations close on Sunday, 16 August 2026. Winners will be announced at the City of Mandurah Sports Awards on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
