The City of Mandurah is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for both residents and visitors. By working closely with WA Police, Neighbourhood Watch WA and other key partners, the City takes a proactive approach to community safety, delivering a range of initiatives designed to enhance security and well-being. The City's Community Safety Strategy 2024-2029 reflects this commitment, outlining the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders, and providing a clear framework for local safety initiatives. This Strategy ensures a coordinated and effective response to safety concerns across Mandurah.

As part of these efforts, the City launched the Safety Incentive Rebate Scheme, a two-year trial starting in early 2025. By supporting community-led security improvements, the scheme aims to empower residents and contribute to a safer Mandurah.

The trial has been an outstanding success, with all available budget for this financial year now fully allocated. As a result, the program is temporarily closed to new applications.

Further budget will be available as part of the two-year trial in the next financial year, commencing 1 July 2026.

The Safety Incentive Rebate Scheme will reopen from 1 July 2026 and operate through to December 2026, or until the available budget is fully allocated — whichever occurs first.

Please note: Only receipts dated within three months of the application date will be accepted for rebate eligibility.

We thank our community for the strong interest in this trial and for taking proactive steps to improve safety in and around their homes. For further updates, please continue to check out this page or contact the Community Development team.

The City of Mandurah has implemented a network of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras throughout key locations, including buildings, public facilities, and high-traffic areas. This initiative is supported by grants from both the State and Federal Governments.

The primary goal of the CCTV system is to safeguard public and private assets, deter criminal activity, and provide evidence for investigations. Cameras are strategically placed in areas prone to high pedestrian traffic, such as the Central Business District (CBD) and entertainment precincts.

These "hot spots" benefit from the presence of CCTV as a deterrent against anti-social behaviour and crime and serving as a 'capable guardian' in these spaces.
In partnership with WA Police, the City has formalised its commitment to enhancing safety through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement ensures that WA Police have access to CCTV footage and equipment to support their investigations.

Requests from the public

Access to CCTV footage by the public is restricted and will only be provided under legal orders or through a formal Freedom of Information (FOI) request under the Freedom of Information Act 1992.

For more information on submitting an FOI request, please visit the Freedom of Information (FOI) page on the city’s website.

All CCTV recordings are securely stored and maintained in compliance with the State Records Act 2000, with footage kept for 31 days.
