National Tree Day 2026

This year, we'll be planting more than 2,000 native shrubs and reeds at Coodanup Foreshore Reserve to support habitat restoration, strengthen the foreshore environment and help mitigate erosion.  

Plus enjoy a free sausage sizzle and chat with the Mayor and Elected Members about what matters to you. 

About the event

National Tree Day is a chance to take simple, positive action for our environment. By helping plant native seedlings, you’ll be supporting biodiversity, protecting our wetlands, and contributing to a greener future. 

There will be plenty to enjoy on the day, including: 

• Community planting  
• Seedling giveaway (take one home!) 
• Community chats with the Mayor and Elected Members 
• Free sausage sizzle (hosted by the Mayor and Elected Members) 
• Environmental stalls, including representatives from Birdlife WA, Coastal Waste Warriors, Connecting Corridors, Friends of Creery Wetlands, Mandurah Wildlife, Mandurah Environment & Heritage Group, Peel Region Western Ringtail Possum Group, and WA Seabird Rescue 
• Educational stalls, including First Aid Awareness from St John WA, a ‘Grow it Local’ activity, and clam research from Murdoch University 
• Opportunity to chat with our Landscape Services team about the Coodanup Foreshore Upgrade (Stage 5) 

Things to know

• Attendees can use street parking surrounding the reserve or the car park near the playground; please note, the small car off Peel Parade will be closed to accommodate stallholders due to waterlogging on the reserve
• Bring a reusable water bottle and suitable weatherproof clothing, such as a hat, raincoat, long sleeves and pants, and closed shoes 
• Bring your own gloves and safety glasses (or borrow some on the day) 
• Insect repellent and sunscreen are recommended 
• The event will go ahead unless there are extreme weather conditions 
• All planting equipment will be provided on-site 
• Please sign in at the registration desk on arrival 

Accessibility 

• A Visual Story explains new experiences and environments and is helpful for people who prefer to know what will happen before attending a new place or event. Download the Visual Story for National Tree Day. 
• An event map will be available soon for easy navigation
• A communication board will be available and a printout can be collected at the event
• Need to take a break? A Chill Out Zone with bean bags, noise reduction earmuffs, and sensory activities will be available
• There will be two portable toilets at this location (including one Universal Access Toilet)
• A toilet block with a Universal Access Toilet is located next to the playground, approx. 500m from the event 
• Accessible parking is available
• First aid will be on-site

Everyone is welcome! It’s a great way to spend time outdoors, give back to the environment, and chat in a relaxed community setting.

We're handing out free native seedlings in the lead-up to National Tree Day to help you grow a greener Mandurah:

• Thursday 9 July, 2pm – 4pm at Falcon Library  
• Tuesday 14 July, 2:30pm – 4:30pm at the MARC 
• Thursday 16 July, 2:30pm – 4:30pm at the MARC
