CASM is excited to introduce the new Creative Extension Artist Residency Program in 2026, developed to support artists at key stages of their creative journey.
These residencies run alongside our established Artist Residency Program and are designed to provide time, space, mentorship, and support; whether you’re just starting out, looking to engage with the community, or ready to produce a full body of work for exhibition.
All programs include financial support, mentorship, professional development and free studio space.
Thanks to the generous support from the WA Government and the City of Mandurah, these residencies aim to foster artistic growth and strengthen our local creative community.
1. Extension Emerge Residency
For: Emerging artists aged 18–25
Duration: 3 months
Location: CASM, 63 Ormsby Terrace Mandurah 6210
This residency provides early-career artists with dedicated time to develop their personal practice, right here in their own community.
With tailored mentorship and professional development opportunities, this program helps young artists build a strong foundation for a sustainable creative career.
What’s Included:
- Professional mentorship and development opportunities
- Financial support for materials
- Free access to a dedicated studio
- Ongoing support from CASM staff
- Open to individual or collaborative applicants
2. Extension Connect Residency
For: Artists exploring community-engaged practice
Duration: 3 months
Location: CASM,63 Ormsby Terrace Mandurah 6210 or a community-based location
Extension Connect supports artists to design and deliver a community arts project that aligns with their practice and interests.
Artists will have the chance to engage directly with local community members, using their creativity to spark collaboration, conversation, and connection.
What’s Included:
- Support for community project development
- Artist fees and materials funding
- Free access to a creative workspace
- Professional mentorship
- CASM staff assistance throughout
3. Extension Evolve Residency
For: Artists developing a solo or group exhibition
Duration: 6-month residency + 6-months post-residency support + exhibition
Location: CASM, 63 Ormsby Terrace Mandurah 6210
This in-depth residency supports artists to create a new, exhibition-ready body of work.
It culminates in a solo exhibition at CASM, with full curatorial and production support.
The program encourages artists to challenge their practice and explore new directions, with continued guidance beyond the residency to help realise their final vision.

- Free studio access
- Ongoing curatorial support and exhibition planning
- Opportunity to explore future touring of the exhibition
