About the Event
The City of Mandurah, in partnership with Indigenous Consulting Group Australia, is proud to support Strong Conversations Save Lives - a free, culturally grounded community course focused on suicide prevention for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
This training supports participants to provide initial, culturally safe assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviours, until professional help is accessed or the immediate crisis has resolved. The course emphasises respectful communication, connection, and strengthening community wellbeing through practical, evidence-based approaches.
What You Will Learn
- Recognise early warning signs
- Start safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate conversations
- Apply an evidence-based action plan
- Respond calmly and appropriately during a crisis
- Encourage professional and cultural supports
- Reduce stigma and support stronger, healthier communities
Who Should Attend
- This course is suitable for community members aged 18 or over, volunteers, frontline workers, and local organisations
