About the Event
Disabilities can be both physical and intellectual. Some disabilities are "invisible" including ADHD, autism and anxiety to name just a few.
If you have just one participant or a group of participants that you coach or umpire with a disability and you want to learn more, then this workshop will help you understand how to be the best coach/official for them.
It will give you practical tools and strategies to help your coaching sessions run smoother and help when officiating a sport they are playing.
Whatever the sport and whatever needs your athletes have, then this workshop will address them. You can ask questions about a particular disability and what you should do in certain situations, find out how to modify your sessions, if you need special equipment, and much much more.
This workshop will be presented by Michelle Wong, a member of the Curtin Autism Research Group (CARG) and advisory board member of Women in Sport WA. Michelle works with clubs, councils, schools and educational professionals to get all kids up and moving, and is the founder of Bust-a-Burpee.
Refreshments will be provided.
