Shake off the winter blues and celebrate at Let’s Do Winter in Mandurah.
The City of Mandurah is supporting a variety of events across the city centre during July and August, showcasing our restaurants, cafes, venues and beautiful foreshore.
City of Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams said traditionally winter is a time when we generally stay indoors. This year, I am encouraging everyone to get outside and enjoy our amazing city.
“Mandurah is no longer a sleepy town, it’s a vibrant city with more events throughout winter than ever before.
“Bring your family and friends and go ice skating or do the 30m toboggan slide while overlooking the estuary, grab a bite to eat, or stop by at one of our pop up venues,” Mr Williams said.
To kick things off, Parking Station 3 on the Eastern Foreshore will be turned into a 25 metre ice rink and pop-up Cabin Bar for the first three weeks of July, between 10am to 8pm each day.
The skating rink is bigger than last year, fully undercover, suitable for all abilities and wheelchair accessible.
The Cabin Bar will be run by Flic’s Kitchen and host a number of events including comedy nights, SK80’s nights and drag queen performances. For more information or to book tickets visit http://skatingat.com.au/. Skating At is Australia's largest portable ice rink supplier.
Other major Let’s Do Winter events include:
Secret Sounds of the City, every second Tuesday throughout July and August, five top secret venues will host a number of local artists. Tickets will be available online for $10. The details of the venue will be released to attendees on the day of the event.
Working with local artists and less known venues, community members will be given a chance to visit a venue that they wouldn’t normally go to.
Beat Box, a large purple sea container containing a stage will be installed on the Eastern Foreshore offering a variety of free performances by local artists.
