Peel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) President Donna Cocking is Mandurah’s latest Local Legend.

Mayor Rhys Williams recognised Donna with the accolade at last night’s Council meeting, where she was joined by family and colleagues.

Donna is a passionate local businesswoman who has worked across the retail, hospitality and tourism industries at a local, state and national scale.

Among her many appointments to industry associations and committees, Donna has been the President of the Peel CCI since 2010, and an executive board member of the organisation since 2009. She has also been the State Director WA for Top Tourist Parks Australia, and the President of the Caravan Industry Association WA.

For more than 20 years, she has been the owner/operator of a family caravan and tourist business in Mandurah, and more recently Experience Holiday Parks.

During her time in the industry, Donna has overseen the development and delivery of major projects across the region including the Peel Advertising Project, the Discover Peel Project, and the Peel Engagement Strategy.

Mayor Williams said Donna had dedicated much of her personal and professional time towards helping small businesses in Western Australia, which in turn helped to develop growth and prosperity for the region.

“Donna is a well-recognised and important part of our tourism and hospitality industry in Mandurah, the wider region and beyond,” he said.

“She has assisted in getting many successful projects off the ground, and has helped the industry immensely both at a strategic and advocacy level, and at a grass-roots level with providing guidance to local businesses in our community.”

Donna said receiving the Local Legend award was a humbling experience.

“I think it’s very innovative of the City to have this awards program that recognises and pays homage to the good work of people in the community,” she said.

“It is a privilege to be recognised by my peers, and I acknowledge the team effort behind this award, as one person cannot do it on their own.”
