Make sure to lock this weekend’s Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest in the diary, and head to the Mandurah foreshore and cultural precinct for non-stop family fun.
As well as a huge range of unique food experiences and entertainment on offer for everyone, this weekend’s popular festival will dish up a whole lot of family fun, designed to keep young and the young at heart entertained.
The dedicated Children’s Area in Mandjar Square will be a hive of fun activities, including free and low-cost workshops, amusement rides for all ages, and a dress-up competition on Saturday at 1pm. Children can come dressed in their “under the sea”-themed costumes and enter on the day, and all entries receive a special certificate.
The Children’s Stage, presented by Mandurah Forum, will feature dance, modelling and school choir performances, and a special Crab Fest performance by Riptide Youth Performance Company with mascot Claw’d the Crab.
In the Surf & Turf area between Mandjar Square and the foreshore, keep your eyes peeled for a mermaid swimming in the giant fish tank, or get an up close wildlife encounter at the Critters Up Close touch pool.
The Smart Street Mall will also have plenty on offer for the family including the RAC Rescue Experience, Scitech’s Science Wonderland, a silent disco, an interactive fairy garden, face painting, arts and crafts and much more.
Looking for an easy way to get to the festival? Ride your bike to Crab Fest - there will be free, secure bike parking at Reading Cinemas carpark and on Mandurah Terrace next to Gloria Jeans carpark. Charity car parking for $5 is also available close to the action, or park the car for free at John Tonkin Oval and catch the free shuttle bus to the heart of the festival.
Crab Fest is WA’s biggest free regional festival, showcasing two days of amazing food, entertainment and activities while celebrating local produce from around the Peel region.
Crab Fest was inducted into the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Hall of Fame late last year, claiming the prestigious title after winning Gold in the Major Festivals and Events category for three consecutive years (2016-2018).
The Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest is supported by the State Government through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program, made possible by Royalties for Regions.
