What will Mandurah look like in 20, 30 or even 50 years? That’s the big question the City of Mandurah is asking as it launches the Mandurah Centre Plan — a blueprint set to shape the city’s Strategic Centre.
Formally known as the Mandurah Strategic Centre Precinct Structure Plan Review, this important piece of planning work will guide how key areas in Mandurah will evolve. The project is about your home, your transport, your favourite local spots and the future of the unique Mandurah lifestyle – all with a focus on ensuring Mandurah continues to thrive as a vibrant, liveable, and connected coastal city.
The Mandurah Centre Plan focuses on parts of Central Mandurah and surrounding areas, including southern parts of Silver Sands, and the Mandurah Ocean Marina.
The aim is to generate a plan that will reflect what matters to today’s community and generations to come. It will also align the vision for Mandurah’s Strategic Centre with the latest state and regional planning policies.
Mayor Caroline Knight said the Mandurah Centre Plan is all about creating a thriving, people-friendly centre that works for everyone — whether you're running a business, raising a family, or enjoying retirement.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for people who live, work, or spend time in the heart of Mandurah to help shape what their neighbourhood looks and feels like in the future," Mayor Knight said.
"We want to make sure that as our city grows it does so in a way that reflects what’s important to our community, such as access to great public spaces, pedestrian friendly and vibrancy. I encourage everyone to get involved and register their interest so their voice can be heard."
The updated Mandurah Centre Plan will aim to protect the relaxed and close-knit lifestyle the city is known for, while providing better housing options, improving transport connections, supporting local jobs and businesses, and protecting the natural environment.
Thousands of locals have already contributed to a series of plans and strategies, such as the City Centre Parking Plan and Community Infrastructure Plan, which are already helping to shape the city’s future. These strategies will feed into and support the Mandurah Centre Plan review, building on community feedback received over the past decade.
Residents, local businesses, landowners, state agencies and community groups are all encouraged to get involved and help guide the future of Mandurah’s Strategic Centre by registering their interest in the project.
