Cyber criminals love to wrap up their "gifts" in legitimate looking emails. Don't be fooled this Christmas, here are some tips to help you stay on the look out for scams.

Christmas is a time of peace and goodwill, unless you're a cyber criminal. Read a few tips for shopping online this festive season.

Every year, travellers are targeted by cybercriminals who are hunting for financial details, personal information and any means of financial gain. Naive travellers are easy targets, but there are some simple tips to protect yourself while enjoying your holiday. Here are some quick tips to help you protect yourself when travelling.

The Digital Hub @ Mandurah Library

The Digital Hub provides training and assistance with technology in a variety of regular activities. Learn how to use your computer, laptop, tablet, smart phone and more. Training is done in small groups, or you can book a one on one session to specifically address your needs.

STEAM Hub - every Sunday between 11am and 2pm

On Sundays, the Digital Hub is transformed into a STEAM Hub. In the STEAM Hub, you can explore:

  • Hour of Code - a host of self-directed coding online coding tutorials
  • Lego Mindstorms - building, programming and commanding your LEGO robots to spin, walk, drive, shoot, spin and more
  • Strawbees - Strawbees are small connections that let you connect straws to one another to mechanical objects of all sizes
  • Makey Makey - an invention kit that lets you turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet
  • Ozobots - A pocket sized robot that can be coded through OzoBlockly or screen-free with markers and colour
  • Spheros - A robotic ball where the only limit to your programming or coding is your imagination 

No bookings required, just drop in on Sundays, between 11am - 2pm!

The FabLab @ the Falcon eLibrary and Community Centre

The FabLab is a makerspace at the Falcon eLibrary and Community Centre where you can learn how to use the 3D printer, sewing machines , electronics and programming or share your skills with others.

The FabLab currently offers:

  • 3D Printing service
  • 2 sewing machines and 1 overlocker
  • CoderDojo, a free coding club for ages 7-17 years
  • Adult and children's maker workshops
  • Drop in sessions

Technology Tea for Seniors

Are you in need a few technology tips? Come along and have your questions answered in the Technology Tea for Seniors sessions!

Join the libraries tech-savvy staff for some morning tea and advice about technology. Everyone is welcome, from beginners to experts, with tech ranging from computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones and downloading library eBooks, eAudio books and downloadable magazines.

Please make sure to bring in your own devices and we will talk about all things tech.

International Games Week

This year was Mandurah Libraries third year participating in International Games Week, along with libraries across the world. As part of the celebrations of turning ten, International Games Day became International Games Week. International Games Week celebrates literacy, learning and the community through playing games.

This year International Games Week was celebrated in Mandurah Libraries and events across Mandurah. Events included The Children's Festival, Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre Open Day, the Official Opening of Lakelands Library and Community Centre and Lakefest.
