The WayFairer Project

The Mandurah WayFairer Project captures the grossly underutilised knowledge, skills, experience, interests and talents amongst adults aged 50 + (WayFairers), supporting them to repurpose these attributes into the local community while building the capacity of their local community organisationand sharing their wealth of knowledge.

The Mandurah WayFairer Project is a 5 year partnership project by the City of Mandurah and Inclusion Solutions which will see participating community members aged 50+ (The Wayfairer’s) connected with valued volunteer roles in the community based on their individual talents and interests. It will also give local clubs and groups the chance to increase their volunteer bases and assess the gaps and needs of their organisation.

Community groups, clubs, not-for profit organisationsand schools will take part in the Community Analysis, where specific needs and gaps within the organisationsare identified. This will provide information on how best to match WayFairers with community groups who need help. This Community Analysis will assist local governments to understand the challenges groups face and how best to address them. The Wayfairers can then be connected with roles that align with their unique skills and passions.
