Honey Month @ Mandurah

Two bees on what looks like a Grevillea Little Honey plant.
May is National Honey Month, a month long celebration of honey!

Join us in the library to celebrate bees and honey during Honey Month!

In these sessions you will have the opportunity to meet an experienced beekeeper, see a real beehive, taste different varies of honey and learn all about bees! Dressing up in your favourite bee themed outfit is encouraged, and there will be lots of photo opportunities. If you can answer some questions about bees and honey you could win a lip-balm!

Did you know?
  • Honey bees are super-important pollinators for flowers, fruits and vegetables.

  • It is estimated that one in three mouthfuls of food we eat relies on the honey bee for pollination.

  • Honey bees must gather nectar from two million flowers to make one pound of honey.

  • A honey bee flies at approximately 24 kilometres per hour.

  • A bee can recognise land marks and retain information on nectar and pollen sources for more than a week.

This event is for all ages.

Light refreshments provided.
