The Mandurah Readers & Writers Festival aims to bring readers together with authors and engage in conversations around books. This year the festival is pleased to present established and upcoming WA Authors at the Fishtrap Theatre.

Liz Byrski profile picture

Liz Byrski is the author of ten bestselling novels including Gang of Four, The Woman Next Door and the recently published A Month of Sundays, and more than a dozen non-fiction books including Remember Me and In Love and War. She is a former journalist and ABC broadcaster with more than fifty years experience in the British and Australian media. Her articles and essays have been published in national and international newspapers and magazines. Liz is an Associate Professor at Curtin University in Perth and the Senior Fellow and former Director of the University’s China Australia Writing Centre.  She is a former advisor to a Minister in the Western Australian government and a former president of the WA Women’s Advisory Council to the Premier.

Amanda Curtin

Amanda Curtin is the author of novels Elemental (2013) and The Sinkings (2008), and short story collection Inherited (2011). Elemental was shortlisted for the WA Premier’s Book Awards, and in 2016 was published in the UK. Amanda has also worked as a book editor for many years. She lives in Perth with her husband and an opinionated Siamese cat, and works in a backyard studio among magpies, doves and old trees. Her forthcoming title, a work of narrative non-fiction, is Kathleen O’Connor of Paris (Fremantle Press).
