The trio chat about word-counts, trusting in the process and accountability. Committing to the writing life is a choice, and it’s not for everyone, but if you’re an aspiring author, or an author on your own writing journey, then these ladies have something to share with you.

Rachael, Lisa and Sally have published over thirty books between them. They not only know what they’re talking about, they’re generous in sharing their knowledge.

Rachael Johns

Book Cover for Lost without you by Rachael Johns featuring a wooden table with a vase of flowers and a framed picture of a wedding dress.

Rachael Johns is an English teacher by trade, a mum 24/7, a chronic arachnophobic, and a writer the rest of the time. She rarely sleeps and never irons. A lover of romance and women’s fiction, Rachael loves nothing more than sitting in bed with her laptop and a can of Diet Coke, imagining her own stories.

Rachael has been a finalist in a numĀber of competitions, including the Australian Romance Readers Awards. Jilted (her first rural romance) won Favourite Australian Contemporary Romance in 2012 and she was voted #19 in Booktopia’s latest Favourite Australian Author poll. The Patterson Girls won the 2016 Romance Writers of Australia RUBY Award and also the 2015 Australian Book Industry Award for General Fiction.

Rachael lives near the gorgeous Swan River with her hyperactive husband, three mostly-gorgeous heroes-in-training, two fat cats, a cantankerous bird and a very badly behaved dog.

Lisa Ireland

Book cover for The Art of Friendship by Lisa Ireland featuring teacups.

Lisa Ireland is a writer of contemporary romance and women’s fiction. She’s fascinated by relationships of all kinds and her superpower is eavesdropping on interesting conversations.

In 2014 Lisa was a finalist in the Australian Romance Readers Awards in the category of Best New Author, and the following year went on to be one of the top ten debut fiction authors in Australia. Her rural romance, Feels Like Home, is an Australian bestseller. Lisa’s fifth novel, The Art of Friendship, was published by Pan Macmillan in April 2018.

Lisa lives on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula with her husband and three (big) boys. She loves eating but not cooking, is an Olympic class procrastinator, and (most importantly) minion to a rather large dog.

Sally Hepworth

Book cover for The mother in law by Sally Hepworth featuring an image of the outside of a house, including a window, garden hedge and pool.

Sally Hepworth is the bestselling author of The Secrets of Midwives (2015), The Things We Keep (2016) and The Mother's Promise (2017), The Family Next Door (Feb 2018) and The Mother-in-Law (2019). Sally's books have been labelled “enchanting” by The Herald Sun, “smart and engaging” by Publisher’s Weekly, and New York Times bestselling authors Liane Moriarty and Emily Giffin have praised Sally’s novels as “women’s fiction at its finest” and “totally absorbing”.

Sally's novels are available worldwide in English and have been translated into 13 languages across 20 countries around the world. Sally lives in Melbourne, Australia with her husband and three children.
