Take the opportunity to transform your verge into a beautiful flowering native garden with free plants, mulch and training. You can save up to 40,000L of water each year! 

  

Waterwise verge training workshop

Training will be provided by the City of Mandurah and Water Corporation with a step by step process on how to undertake a verge makeover including:

  • handy tips on soils and plants,
  • design advice,
  • receive your free kit and
  • on-site demonstrations.

2019 workshop dates

The registration form will provide you the option to register to one of the following four dates.

Free Waterwise Verge Kit! 

These materials will help you make over your verge;

  • $100 plant voucher to spend at Carramar Coastal Nursery in Secret Harbour
  • A packet of everlasting seeds
  • Garden trowel and gloves
  • Voucher for soil amendment  
  • Mulch for your verge delivered by the council*

Before you register, please carefully read the guidelines and terms and conditions below.

  • Provide a before and after photo of your verge** 
  • Attend a training workshop in Winter 2019.
  • Install the Waterwise verge including removing/spraying grass, irrigation if needed, spreading mulch, planting seedlings and follow up maintenance***
  • Ensure your verge is compliant with the City’s local law

To request a free council verge tree a Street tree form will be need to be filled out prior to March 30th 2019 for the tree to be planted in winter 2019. Forms received after this date will be planted Winter 2020.

Terms and conditions

  • Install the Waterwise verge including removing/spraying grass, irrigation if needed, spreading mulch, planting seedlings and follow up maintenance
  • Ensure your verge is compliant with the City’s local law
  • *Mulch cannot be guaranteed to be weed/disease free. If you accept the mulch it is at your own risk.
  • **Before photo must be provided for registration to be complete. After/progress photos will be required in November 2019
  • ***Irrigation and weed control materials not provided by the City
  • Renters will need to provide written permission from landlords (not needed at time of registration)
  • Inform us of your verge garden installation date
