At the Public Health Advocacy Institute of WA – 2018 Children’s Environment and Health Local Government Policy Awards, the City was nominated in two categories and won the ‘Injury Prevention’ award.

Presented by the Minister for Local Government, David Templeman MLA, this Award recognises the significant amount of work the City has undertaken in developing and delivering a broad range of projects, developing partnerships, and working with community; to reduce harm from the misuse of alcohol and other drugs, especially among youth.

“Tackling the root causes of anti-social behaviour is an important element of our long term strategy to make Mandurah a safer and healthier place to live,” said Mandurah Mayor, Rhys Williams.

“We all know that the abuse of alcohol can be a trigger for anti-social behaviour, so it is just common sense that we focus on early prevention.

“This is our second win for the week, after the big win as Most Accessible Regional City, and I want to thank the committed staff at the City for their great work, especially in the field of community development,” he said.
