Jade Fowler is the first recipient under the City’s new scholarship partnership with Murdoch University.

Jade is studying Veterinary Science and has been awarded a three year scholarship at the Murdoch University South Street campus.

City of Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams said he was proud the City could support local young people, such as Jade, to access higher education and ultimately achieve their career goals.

“Providing opportunities to our young people is vital to helping create a self-sustainable region, boost employment and improve the standard of life for local residents into the future,” Mr Williams said.

In partnership with Murdoch University, the City will provide three $4,000 a year rolling scholarships over three years of study. Two scholarships are for first year undergraduate students and one for a first year undergraduate Aboriginal student.

To be eligible, students must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, be a current resident of the City of Mandurah and intend to enrol or be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree at Murdoch University.

The winners of the two remaining scholarships will be announced in August and three new scholarships will be offered for study in 2020.
