About the Event
Join us for the Community Clothes Swap on Sunday, 8 September at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC), where fashion meets sustainability! We're excited to host The Style Counsellor, a leading voice in sustainable fashion, who will be sharing her expertise on how to dress well while caring for the environment.
Every year, millions of tonnes of clothing are discarded into landfills, contributing to significant environmental damage. The fashion industry is a major contributor to this waste, but together, we can change that. Our Community Clothes Swap is part of the circular fashion movement, which encourages keeping clothes in use for as long as possible. By swapping instead of shopping, you're helping to reduce waste and make a positive impact on the planet.
The event begins with a workshop led by The Style Counsellor. She will share practical advice on good and bad styling, how to choose clothes that suit you, and why sustainable shopping is crucial in today's world. Upon arrival, you can drop off your swap items (maximum of 20) with our volunteers, who will organise them oto racks while you enjoy the workshop.
After the workshop, you will have the chance to browse the racks and find new-to-you clothes. The Style Counsellor will be available to offer personalised styling tips and help you select items that match your style.
We will be weighing all of the clothes you bring in to measure how much we've saved from ending up in landfill. This is a simple yet impactful way to see the difference we're making together.
